THEMES:

The conference aims at bringing together various aspects of research in Cognitive Linguistics. Papers are invited that contribute to research on the following general areas (as a sampler, not an exclusive list of possibilities): cognitive grammar, cognitive semantics, construction grammar, conceptual metaphor, conceptual integration, embodiment of language, cognitive psycholinguistics, cognitive sociolinguistics, cognitive stylistics, cognitive applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, and application of a cognitive linguistics theory to other disciplines. We welcome more empirically based presentations that report on the evidence from collected data in one or more languages.

 

CALL FOR PAPERS:

Call Deadline: May 30, 2011

The abstracts of 25-minute talks (in English) should be not longer than one A4 page and should contain a clear indication of the objectives, method, and languages discussed.

 

Selection Criteria:

Abstracts will be reviewed and all authors will be notified of the outcome in early May. Please pay attention to the following selection criteria that will be used in the review process: acceptance will depend on relevance to the specifically defined field of Cognitive Linguistics and on the coherence of the approach (i.e. the rationale for bringing the different proposed panel contributions together).

Submission:

Please send your abstracts via email to sevencclc@126.com. The title of the email message should be 'CCLC 07 abstract'. In the body of the message, please provide the following information:

1. Title of the presentation (this should be identical as that on top of your abstract)

2. Name and affiliation

3. Email address

4. Full postal address

REGISTRATION, TRAVEL AND ACCOMODATION

Registration:

Registration will be made via email before the call deadline, with the filled registration form (downloadable here) sent to: sevencclc@126.com

 

Registration Fee:

800 Yuan RMB, paid in Cash on the day before the conference opening, i.e. July 7, 2011. The registration fee covers: attendance at the conference and two conference banquets. Payment desk will be installed from 17:00 to 21: 00, July 7, 2011, at the 1st floor of SHISU Conference Center (上海外国语大学会议中心一楼).

 

Travel:

By plane:

Shanghai is an international metropolis, and one of China's premier tourism cities. There are two airports in Shanghai: Pudong International Airport, mainly for international airlines, and Hongqiao Airport, mainly for domestic airlines.

 

From Pudong International Airport to SHISU:

SHISU (the conference site) is five minutes' walking distance from the terminal station (Hongkou Football Stadium虹口足球场) of Airport bus 4 (one in every twelve minutes from 7:00 am to 23:00 pm, about one hour ride, costing about 4 dollars).

 

From Hongqiao Airport to SHISU:

There are buses operating between the airport and downtown Shanghai, for example, Bus 941 takes you to the Shanghai Railway Station. 

 

We recommend that you take a taxi from airport or railway station to the Guesthouse of SHISU, near the western gate of SHISU. And it's about one hour taxi ride from Pudong International airport, costing less than 30 dollars, and 40 minutes taxi ride from Hongqiao Airportcosting less than 15 dollars. Please write down the address on a piece of paper, and show it to the taxi driver: 上海外国语大学迎宾馆西体育会路189号(上海外国语大学西门,上海财经大学对面)

 

By Train:

About 15 minutes taxi ride from Shanghai Railway Station. Or by metro line 3, it takes you about 15 minutes to go from Shanghai Railway Station (上海火车站站) to Chifeng Road Station (赤峰路站), and the Guesthouse of SHISU is about 100 meters from Chifeng Road Station.
