Abstract:
Despite the boom of publication in Interpreting Studies (IS) in China in the past decade, a lack of inter-disciplinary perspectives has become a bottleneck of its development. This article explores several inter-disciplinary approaches to IS by borrowing from the multiple theoretical perspectives and inter-disciplinary approaches from translation studies.Based on an analysis into the recent publications in the West in the past decade, this article delineates four major promising inter-disciplinary approaches, namely, linguistic, cultural, sociological and historical, in order to expand IS in China with substantial suggestions on research topics and approaches.
