Abstract:
Promoted by series of national culture translation projects, more and more English versions of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classics have been published and distributed at the overseas market. However, studies on the overseas reception of English versions of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classics rendered by Chinese translators are insufficient. In view of the current study situation, this paper takes
Huang Di Nei Jing translated by Li Zhaoguo as an example, and investigates the facts of its reception in English-speaking countries in terms of the following three aspects:overseas library holdings, book reviews written by overseas scholars in high-level periodicals, and readers' comments on Amazon website. The research shows that Li's version has not been widely accepted by overseas readers and scholars.Given that the translation and dissemination of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classics has its own characteristics, the cooperative translation between domestic and foreign influential translators, the cooperative publication between domestic and overseas presses, and academic recommendations by overseas scholars and high-level periodicals will be definitely beneficial to our Traditional Chinese Medicine Classics' "Going Out".
