Abstract:
This article offers a survey of contemporary Chinese women novels translated by the English world and their studies, focusing on the operationality, projection and interaction features of image construction.It explores the operating methods of the English world in its construction of contemporary Chinese image through the translation of contemporary Chinese women novels, the English world projected from the image and the ways for China to back reconstruct its image.The results show that the English world constructs the contemporary Chinese image by careful choices of books to be translated, the library selection of translated books and media comments on the books, which reflects its deep-rooted collective imagination of China, the preference of its readers and the business benefits of the English world.The article proposes that China back constructs its image by renewing the contents and literary forms of women writing and choosing the appropriate books to translate.
