Abstract: In recent years, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies, the sprawling application of large language models in translation has come under increasing scrutiny, prompting scholars in translation studies to delve into new challenges and possibilities presented by generative artificial intelligence. In response, translation criticism should adopt a positive and critical spirit, emphasize its features in practical intervention, theoretical exploration, and value-oriented perspectives, reengage with fundamental concerns such as the nature and value of translation, the ethics of translation, and the subjectivity of translator, not only to foster deeper insights on translation and provide possible pathways for reconsidering human-machine relationship, but also to contribute to the development of a sustainable and beneficial translation ecosystem in the age of artificial intelligence.
