Acquisition of French Pitch Accent by Mandarin Native Speakers

  • 摘要: 本文在自主音段节律音系学理论框架下,通过对比中国法语学习者与法语本族语者的朗读口语产出来探究中国法语学习者习得法语语调重音的情况,探究法语重调短语的语调模式/LHiLH*/中晚升高的语音实现情况。实验结果表明:学习者的法语语调重音的语音实现模式与本族语者存在一定差别。学习者带有普通话声调的痕迹,并且呈现掌握水平越低痕迹越明显的规律;学习者的语调重音实现模式受到了重调短语的音节数量及其位置或成分的影响。此外,本研究还发现相比于本族语者,学习者的法语产出基频起伏度较小,通过基频实现语调凸显的能力有限。

     

    Abstract: Within the theoretical framework of Autosegmental-Metrical (AM) phonology, this study compares the reading-aloud productions of Chinese learners of French and native French speakers to investigate the acquisition of French pitch accent by Mandarin speakers. It focuses on the phonetic realization of the late rise (the pitch accent) within the underlying tonal pattern /LHiLH*/ of the accentual phrase. The results show that the learners’ phonetic realization of French pitch accent differs from that of native speakers. Traces of Mandarin lexical tone are observed in the learners’ productions, and these traces become more salient as the learners’ proficiency decreases. The realization of pitch accent is also influenced by the number of syllables in the accentual phrase as well as by its position or nature. Additionally, this study finds that compared with native speakers, the learners exhibit a narrower F0 range and a more limited ability to realize intonational prominence through F0.
