An Analysis of the Problems of Eco-translatology from the Perspective of “Pure” Translation Studies

Taking ecological phenomena in the natural world as an analogy, eco-translatology describes translation phenomena with the metaphorical expressions "Translation as Eco-balance", "Translation as Textual Transplant", and "Translation as Adaptation and Selection", and explains translation phenomena in terms of the teleological cause of the translator's desire for "effective survival". The researcher claims that the theory of eco-translatology is based on objective facts and that its description and explanation are universally valid. However, in fact, due to the limitations of analogical perspective and the presuppositions resulted from personal value, the empirical research falls into a state of subjective idealization, which, in turn, leads to the deficiency in terms of both objectivity and universality as required by the "pure" scientific research.
