The Generative and Developmental Logic of Medio-translatology

  • Medio-translatology, constructed upon the framework of comparative literature theory, situates "translation" as its central object of inquiry from its inception. This approach examines the phenomenon of translation within a vast cross-cultural and interdisciplinary context.Over the course of its evolution, Medio-translatology has progressively shifted its research emphasis from the realms of comparative literature, literary translation, and the historical analysis of translated literary works, towards the realms encompassing cultural translation, translation services, and the establishment of the translation discipline. This shift has not only broadened the theoretical and research horizons of both Chinese and global comparative literature studies, but has also unveiled innovative avenues for the expansion of the field of translation studies.Adopting a perspective rooted in the evolution of the translation studies discipline, the authors undertake a systematic retrospective and prospective analysis to unveil the inherent generative and developmental logic. This endeavor bears significant theoretical and practical implications, serving to advance the discourse of translation studies in the contemporary landscape of China.
