Second language acquisition (SLA) involves internal factors and mechanisms, external factors and their effects.A panoramic picture of SLA can only be drawn on the basis of all possible perspectives and systematic analyses.This paper is an elaborate discussion of various crucial factors and models of development with full reference to The Cambridge Handbook of Second Language Acquisition (2013), with emphasis on the plausibility of integrating various relevant factors in SLA research and a prospective exploration of an all-round model of interlanguage development.
