An Interdisciplinary Study of Pragmatic Impairment from the Perspective of Clinical Pragmatics

Little attention has been paid to pragmatic impairment as an interdisciplinary topic, and its relevant issues in interactional communication.This paper examines pragmatic impairment with the main focus on its research scope, methods and theoretical perspectives so as to explore what the essential features of clinical pragmatics are, how pragmatic theories can be integrated and how pragmatic and cognitive perspectives can be adopted for a comprehensive study of pragmatic impairment in order to provide theoretical and practical instructions for clinical pragmatics.It further points out the limitations of clinical pragmatics and some potential topics for future investigation.
