Abstract
This paper explores the connotations and implications of critical translation studies based on the analysis of its features, research areas and implications. It is argued that, critical translation studies, which grows out of the marriage between descriptive translation and critical discourse analysis, aims at investigating ideological factors that lie behind the choice of texts to be translated, the use of translation strategies and methods, features of translated texts, and the reception of translated texts, and the impact of translation on ideology as well. The advent of critical translation studies not only promotes the research on the interaction between translation and ideology, but also expands the scope of critical social sciences.
