Abstract
Existing interpreting researches are mainly focussed on such issues as interpreting tactics, interpreter training, etc.,and stand in need of studies that can synthesize interpreting process and neuroscience. This paper reviews empirical interpreting studies within the framework of neurolinguistics over the past decades, including neuroimaging technique-based interpreting experiments and demonstrates that these studies reveal the brain activation patterns and the brain functional features elicited by interpreting-a cognitively taxing language task.It also examines the inadequacies with the existing researches and suggests possible ways to improve neurolinguistic interpreting studies in the future.
