Abstract
The French translation theorist Antoine Berman is hailed as the "founder" of contemporary translation ethics studies.His thoughts on ethics, deriving from his reflection and presentation of multiple essential relationships in translation, manifest profound speculative and philosophical significance.By tracing the sources of Berman's core concepts in translation ethics such as "Other", "foreign", "foreignness" and "experience", this article attempts to make clearer of their definitions and reveal their rich philosophical implications.This study is intended to emphasize the significance of philosophical approach to the construction of translation ethical discourse.
