A Study on the Path of Explaining Translation Variation in Translation Studies

Abstract
Unlike the original text that is pre-existing and objective, translation is in variation, where the translator uses means of discourse to produce expressions with new value connotations on the basis of the original text, with an aim to re-evaluate the text, bringing it new life through variation. Our path of explaining translation variation gets widened as we shift focus from the function of variation in reproducing the original meaning to the function of reshaping power relation and in guiding values, and then to the mechanism for directing values in the form of variation, or in other words, to the basic rhetorical structure hidden behind the translator's strategy to achieve evaluation purposes. In light of this, we should follow the direction with epistemology as the basis and rhetoric as the core, which will make us further understand why and how translation invariably seeks its value of existence through variation.
