Directionality in Translation and Future Development of Chinese Outward Translation Practice

The outward translation practice, deployed as a means for promoting dialogue and communication among civilizations and cultural systems, is increasingly being valued by major countries around the world, but its differences from the inward translation have not received sufficient attention from translation academics.This situation tends to dilute and obscure the uniqueness of outward translation practice, which is not conducive to its long-term sustainable development.Based on the analysis of the concept and practical characteristics of directionality in translation, the paper explores the theoretical basis, stance and values as well as strategies or methods of outward translation practice of Chinese culture, and provides reference for the future development of outward translation research from the dimensions of the construction of a multidisciplinary theoretical system, the dual demand-driven outward translation practice model, audience-oriented reception studies and technology-empowered multimodaliy and multimedia translation studies.
