Abstract:
The English translation of terminology serves as the foundation for the English translation of traditional Chinese medical classics and is also the core issue for the exchange of knowledge between Chinese and Western medicine, as well as the global dissemination of Chinese medical thought and culture. This article reviews the conflicting ideas and debates among Chinese and Western scholars over the past few decades regarding “how to translate” and “whether to unify” the translation of traditional Chinese medical terminology. It also delves into the characteristics and historical achievements of the English translation of terminology in multiple traditional Chinese medical classics from a “dialogue” perspective.
