Chinese Translation Studies in International Core Journals: A Bibliometric Analysis Based on the Web of Science Database (2005–2024)

  • In the past two decades, more and more Chinese scholars have published articles in international journals. To investigate the process and current status of Chinese translation studies in international academia, this study conducts a bibliometric analysis of journal articles published by Chinese scholars in 13 SSCI- and A&HCI-indexed international core journals from 2005 to 2024. Using “translation” as the search term in the Web of Science (WoS) database, this study employs bibliometric methods and CiteSpace visualization tool to analyze research trends, keywords and terms distribution, author networks, publishing journals and citation patterns. The study identifies an evolution in the international publications of Chinese translation studies, moving beyond sheer volume toward greater impact and originality. This is characterized by the interdisciplinary expansion of the research disciplines, local relevance of research topics, and the internationalization of collaborative networks. This study contributes to mapping the global academic positioning of Chinese translation studies and offers insights for advancing original theoretical contributions and international dissemination of Chinese translation theories.
